We are excited to have professional development as a component to Brighten Learning. We know how important it is to offer teachers, support staff, district and school personnel opportunities to explore and grow to build deeper understanding and desires to improve their practice.

Karen Allen, National Education Director

Karen Allen, a Lifelong Educator and Trauma Informed Practices Advisor, has been an educator for over 20 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her career as a high school French and English teacher, working with students to increase content knowledge while preparing them for a successful transition into post-secondary life. After over 10 years in the classroom, Karen shifted her focus to supporting teachers as a curriculum specialist, and then later as School Principal in Alternative Education programs in Marin County, CA. Today, Karen continues to be a lifelong education leader in Marin County and beyond, supporting teaching and learning communities through professional development focused on trauma, restorative practices, social-emotional learning and building strength-based environments.
